Discover the taste of natural wines

Riding Wine, a new natural wine shop, has opened in Dickens Yard, offering customers the option of buying wine to take away or drink in. They offer natural and organic wine produced by family-owned, independent artisan winemakers. The concept of the business originated from the co-founders travelling across Europe on their motorcycle searching for winemakers who craft real and honest wine. Build great tasting burgers to eat in or take away

Built Custom Burgers from the USA have opened on 23 High Street and specialise in offering customers full control over the creation of their burgers. The process is pretty straightforward. With a choice of a quarter or half pounder, the first stage is to choose ‘Bun or Bowl (of greens)’, then your protein: ‘hormone & antibiotic-free’ Angus beef, all-natural chicken, or Vegan Veggie, a cheese, sauces or dressings, and ‘Free Unlimited Toppings’. SOANES HOSTS SWITCHBACK

Soanes Kitchen, run by Social Pantry Founder and CEO, Alex Head, has been cooking up a storm with its themed supper club events, but Switchback members taking over the restaurant for one night grabbed the attention of the London press. Switchback connects with 18-30-year-old prison leavers, to give them hospitality training and unique hands-on experience at top restaurants. Alex Head was happy to get involved with Switchback, explaining that its work sits closely with the ethos of her company. She said: “I was expelled from school twice, so I always think – if I got another chance, then why shouldn’t others?” Alex practices what she preaches as 10% of her workforce are ex-offenders. www.soaneskitchen.co.uk

DON’T PANIC – THEY HAVEN’T CLOSED, JUST MOVED!

The Post Office and WH Smith on The Broadway have moved into a brand new modernised unit in the Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre. The move is part of a significant modernisation programme across the Post Office network. Gym Box promises never to be boring!

Gym Box in Dickens Yard have opened today and are promising to be the wild child of gym training. New organic grocery and cafe on Dickens Yard

Reineta is a new organic cafe and grocery store about to open on Dickens Yard. On sale will be fresh food produce as well as coffees, juices and a soup and salad menu exclusively created by the Head Chef at the Cambio de Tercio Group, Alberto Criado. Founder and Director of Reineta, Miguel Morales, is passionate about fresh, naturally grown food and will source fresh organic produce every day for the grocery and café side of the business. www.reineta.co.uk
ALL SET FOR A SIZZLING  SUMMER

Summer is beckoning, and Ealing town centre is going to look blooming lovely! Make It Ealing have ordered over 140 flower baskets to be attached to buildings and lampposts in late June, as well as some stylish year-round flowering bike planters. We have been working with Ealing Council to re-varnish the wooden tubs on Bond Street, and keep the planters watered, so the flowers have a chance to develop and bloom. Fingers crossed for a long hot summer!
 
FIT FOR THE FUTURE

Nuffield Health is having a massive refurb, and installing the very latest Technogym equipment to the delight of its members. They have set out a timetable that will minimise disruption and will be rearranging the space to accommodate classes and studio space to ensure nobody misses gym time. Nuffield will be relaunching in early July and will continue to offer a brilliant gym facility for all ages and especially families because of their crèche facilities. The Nuffield team are passionate about the Ealing community and are keen to work with, and cross-promote, local businesses. Keep your eye on ‘What’s On’ as festival season gets going. Ealing Broadway Centre is getting in the party mood with its annual Buskathon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7th, 8th & 9th June. This fabulous event showcases local talent who busk for our entertainment and donate every penny to charity. Another fun weekend event is the French Market which runs from 27th – 30th June on Town Square, Ealing Broadway Centre.

Principles of Fire Safety, Wednesday 19 June 9.30 - 4.30

This Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety is a qualification aimed at people in the management of fire safety in the workplace.

This includes managers, supervisors, team leaders, fire wardens (marshals) and staff working in any area where there is a potential risk of fire. Persons gaining this qualification will recognise the consequences of a fire in any premises.

Mental Health First Aid. Wednesday 3 July 09:30 - 4.30

This one-day adult course is designed specifically for the workplace and will equip line managers and employers with the skills and confidence to spot when an employee may need support. The course will outline how to create and maintain a healthier workforce and will provide a manual,  a copy of the Line Manager resource guide for reference and a  Mental Health, First Aid Champion certificate.

Health & Safety at Work, Wednesday 25 Sept 09:30 - 4.30

This Level 2 health and safety in the workplace course is designed to provide employees with the requisite knowledge, or refresher training, needed in order provide a safe working environment within your organisation.

This includes an understanding of legal responsibilities, accident prevention and an overview of some of the key areas of workplace health and safety.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Pitzhanger Manor has been transformed: visitors will now be able to explore Soane’s architecture up close, getting an insight into the mind of one of Britain’s most influential and idiosyncratic architects. However, to maintain a sustainable business plan that enables Pitzhanger to deliver its aspirations in the long term, they are dependent on the work of Visitor Experience Volunteers. Volunteering is fun, and all they ask is a minimum commitment of four hours a fortnight. If you enjoy meeting people and love your local heritage, please contact volunteering@pitzhanger.org.uk
