Happy Festive Season and New Year.

Fingers crossed that the explosion of positive tests has a negative impact on hospital admissions so we can start to get our lives and businesses back on track.

The new variant has set in motion a few changes to the legislation. We will keep the business toolkit updated to help you stay on top of what's new.
Business Grants  

Grant guidance for the hospitality and leisure sectors was issued to councils on Dec 20th. The funding will be based on the businesses' rateable value (RV) and applied as listed. 

  • RV £0-£15k = £2.7k grant
  • RV £15-£51k = £4k grant 
  • RV >£51k = £6k grant

 There is talk but no guidelines to top up the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) for businesses. The ARG should not be confused with the Covid 19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF).  

Councils have just received CARF distribution guidance. The fund is to support businesses outside of the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors that have been adversely affected by the pandemic, for example, a supply chain. More details here

Isolation & Statutory Sick Pay 
 

The Statutory Sick Pay rebate scheme has been re-introduced. More details here.

Isolation has been reduced from 10 to 7 days as long as days 6 & 7 produce a negative LFT. 

Isolation starts immediately from a positive LFT. A positive PCR test is a confirmation of having covid at the time a test was taken.

Business Grants  

2022/23 Retail Relief Scheme.

Business Rates Relief Scheme will be in operation for one year only and provide eligible, occupied, retail, hospitality and leisure properties with a 50% relief, up to a cash cap limit of £110,000 per business. Guidance can be read here.

Transitional Relief 

The transitional relief scheme for the 2017 rating list was due to end on Mar 31st 2022 but has now been extended for one year to the end of the current revaluation cycle to help lessen the impact on smaller businesses. More details here.

Make It Ealing First Mile and Biffa collections will not be running on the dates listed below unless you have made direct arrangements with the collection agency. 

  • Dec 25th Christmas Day 
  • Dec 26th Boxing Day
  • 27th December Bank Holiday 
  • 31st December New Years Eve
  • Jan 1st 2022 New Years Day

WAVE Programme

In August this year the Metropolitan Police Service, alongside Safer Sounds re-launched the WAVE Programme which includes Welfare And Vulnerability Engagement (WAVE) Training and the Ask for Angela campaign, across London with refreshed assets and enhanced training.
