New Businesses

Research conducted by Ember, a cloud accounting company, discovered that Companies House incorporated 211,368 new companies in January, February and March this year, which equates to 2,349 brand new businesses each day, or 98 every hour. It proves the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and kicking, but we would be interested in knowing the breakdown between bricks-and-mortar and bedroom start-ups!
Ealing appears to be high on the list for attracting new businesses. We have four to welcome to the BID area this month, with more companies getting ready to open soon.

A warm welcome to...

W5 Collective in Dickens Yard is the latest addition to the Canteen collective. Their remit is to find local growers, artisans and creatives wherever possible so they can keep their carbon footprint on a positive trajectory.

The London Cycle Workshop, established in 2009, has opened its fourth branch at 39 Bond Street W5. They aim to make the great pastime of cycling a more accessible and enjoyable experience for all.

Thérapie Clinic, in EBSC, are part of the fastest-growing Aesthetic Medical Clinic group in Europe.

Dendrow estate agents are new to Ealing but have been operating in central London for 20 years.

Jobs a top priority

As Furlough ends, Ealing Council has launched a manifesto for Good Jobs to support residents facing unemployment due to job losses at Heathrow airport and the associated multiple supply chains in the manufacturing and service industries.

The plan highlights several key priorities for the council and its partners to achieve and promotes free re-training and affordable access to up-skilling opportunities through the Ealing Work West website.

Ealing Work West is a comprehensive website that provides a free job board for local businesses to advertise job vacancies. They also run the Apprenticeship network, multiple training schemes, advice lines for benefits and courses to enable people to get back into the workplace.

British Land has launched the free Bright Lights Training Programme for Ealing Broadway. It specifically aims to support young people in the local community to gain local employment, develop new skills, and try hands-on experience. With one to one mentoring and support for six months after completing the course, candidates will be mentally and physically prepared for a post-pandemic future.

Also new in is the Jobcentre Plus at 54 The Broadway, and if people are looking for part-time or temporary employees, don't forget the Make It Ealing Job Board.

That's a direct call out from Gordon Ramsay, who celebrates his signature dish, Beef Wellington, to welcome the arrival of autumn. Gordon is also throwing down the gauntlet by inviting people to make a Gordon's Wellington at home by following a surprising array of sweet and savoury delicious recipes.

Pubwatch

Recycling is Changing

We are changing our recycling supplier from First Mile to Biffa. We will be distributing the free Biffa allocation of recycling bags and tape to businesses at the end of October, along with details about collections. If you would like to join the scheme or know more about your eligibility and fee allocation, please get in touch with the BID office on 0203 405 0751

And finally...

The hanging flower baskets will be removed soon as their best days are over, but the consensus agreed they were rather splendid and the best this year. The Make It Ealing baskets won a silver medal from BID'S in Bloom.

Don't forget October can be a busy month with half term, Halloween and the start of Diwali celebrations.
