Meet the developers

Welcome to the APIARY 1A The Mall, Ealing, the creative vision of Urbane, a family-owned private development company run by a husband-and-wife team, Holly Porter & Duncan Wilson. Due to open in April 2024. I met Duncan on-site to learn more about co-living.

From the get-go, it was apparent this wasn’t any co-living. This was curated co-living with the finer details of expectation considered and catered for.

As partners, Duncan & Holly bring a masterful skill set to the table. Duncan has extensive knowledge of residential development, and Holly has impeccable architectural qualifications from Cambridge and the Royal College of Art. Holly also founded the award-winning Chick with Bricks, a network celebrating diversity in the building industry.

Listening to their philosophy of measuring twice and cutting once was reassuring. They detailed how they considered every aspect of daily life in the apartments, from where you drop your bag when you open the door to lying on your double bed and gazing at the skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Duncan is passionate about the quality of lifestyle the Apiary will offer. “We believe The Apiary will showcase the absolute best of what co-living can be. Our aim has been to create sustainable, high-quality homes and socially permeable communities in city centres, with design and sustainability at the heart.”

Co-living has become increasingly popular since the millennium; community, social interaction, and wellbeing are the core deliverables. Add flexibility, affordability, and services into the mix, and you have the perfect living space for short- or long-term occupants who can enjoy living their best life without financial commitment or investment.

Now near completion, The Apiary will deliver 81 high-quality en-suite studios across various unit types. The residents will share 1,800 sq ft of amenity space, which includes a fabulous south-facing roof terrace, co-working space and kitchens. As part of The BREEAM Very Good scheme, it has strong environmental and social credentials, including an air source heat pump, photovoltaic panels, no gas services, a biophilic design, and a private rooftop for residents to aid wellbeing.

The property is already attracting significant interest from potential tenants who desire the transport connectivity Ealing offers, the convenience of a town centre for socialising and eating out, and access to green spaces and alfresco fun on sunny days.

Overall, The Apiary is not just a building but a carefully curated home that offers a new way of living in a modern, sustainable, and vibrant community.

Duncan & Holly’s vision and passion are evident in every detail, and it is sure to become a sought-after address for those looking for a unique and fulfilling living experience. We look forward to welcoming the new residents to our town centre soon.
