Pavement Licence – expiring 30th September 2022

street-dining-

Current pavement licences issued under the Business and Planning Act 2020 will expires on September 30th 2022. A new bill to either extend or modify the Pavement Licence arrangements is working through Parliament, but it is not due back into the Commons until late September, so there is an anticipated gap in legislation.

If you would like to continue street trading past September 30th, please apply for a new Tables and chairs licence using the council online application portal. If you do not already have a My Account, please create one at www.ealing.gov.uk and click on “Create account”. Once you have created an account and signed in, click on the home page, then “apply for it” and then “Licenses – Street trading”.

To complete the online application, you will need:

  • A valid copy of your company’s public liability insurance policy with cover of at least £5 million
  • A valid copy of your company’s commercial waste transfer notes
  • A food hygiene rating of at least 3
  • A credit card or debit card for the application fee of £62

Unlike the Pavement Licence, which allowed a business to occupy more space for the same cost, the Tables and Chairs license comes with a monthly fee of £139 to use 1 metre of public highway stretching the full width of the shop front. Direct debit is available.

Enforcement action may be taken against your businesses if you continue to trade with a new street trading licence valid from October 1st.

Please email streettrading@ealing.gov.uk if you have any questions about this matter.
